our FOOTBALL programme
Connect76 is a Community Football Programme designed WITH and FOR people who’ve been impacted by mental ill health, with a focus on suicide prevention, friendship and social interaction. The number 76 in our programme name refers to the shocking statistic that 76% of suicides in Wales are completed by men, which is something we aim to play a small part in reducing.
Through Connect 76 we offer the opportunity for people to access 5aside, 7aside, 11 aside football and drop in wellbeing sessions where people can socialise, get fitter and learn new skills in a safe, fun, friendly, football environment where people can speak openly about mental health without fear of judgement or ridicule.
We don’t put pressure on people, as we understand that the impact of living with mental ill health can mean not knowing from one day to the next how we feel. Therefore there’s no expectation from people to attend activity – drop in when you feel up to it.
