mENTAL hEALTH FOOTBALL in WALES
MHFW is for adults in Wales with lived experience of mental ill health using football to connect and use as a positive tool in managing mental wellbeing.
MHFW provides an opportunity to play football in a fun, inclusive, informal environment without judgement, encouraging and enabling people to develop friendships, support networks and positive relationships with service providers.
Our Members agreed early on that our emphasis should always be on fun and everyone leaving our activities/events with a smile on their face.

Background
MHFW was established in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic, following the suicide of a young man whose death could have been avoided had he been less isolated.
Starting as a support group on social media during lockdown, we quickly grew in numbers, developing and adapting innovative ways to connect and support people. Within months of our conception, MHFW was registered with the Charities Commission, our application and planning having been co-produced by the Charity’s founder and members at every stage.
What makes us so unique is that we’re a charity that’s fully owned and delivered by members with lived experience of mental health with every one having a vote on its future development, direction, strategy and delivery.
